Relax The Back Honored by WorldBed

La Palma, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2011

Relax The Back has been honored by WorldBed for helping distribute beds to disaster areas around the world. Since last March, Relax The Back has donated 3976 beds to Haiti, which was hit by an earthquake in January 2010.

“We don’t always think first about how important beds can be to people who have lost their homes and all of their possessions after a life-changing event,” said J.D. Nespoli, Vice President of Merchandising at Relax The Back. “But having a comfortable surface to obtain a restorative night’s sleep is absolutely essential.”

Relax The Back’s contribution equaled nearly 20% of the 20,000 beds donated through the program. Other regions, such as Chile, hit by an earthquake, and flood-ravaged Pakistan were also recipients of the WorldBed initiative.

“The beds are important because they serve another immediate need,” Nespoli said. “For victims in need of medical assistance - often pulled from damaged buildings and toward safety - these beds provide medics an alternative to performing triage directly on concrete or on the street.”

Beside countries suffering from natural disasters, WorldBeds were also donated to several regions in Africa for use in medical facilities. Relax The Back plans to continue its charitable contributions in the future by donating comfort products to regions in need.

“We are extremely happy to make a difference in the lives of people hit hard by natural disasters,” said Richard Palfreyman, CEO of Relax The Back. “We are very honored to be recognized by WorldBed for our efforts.”

Other companies honored for their contributions to the WorldBed program include Anatomic Global, the Specialty Sleep Association, Leggett & Platt, Wright of Thomasville, and the International Sleep Products Association. Click here to donate to WorldBed or to learn more.
