I had tried a standard foam wedge and it was terribly uncomfortable for a side sleeper. Plus I slid off it. This wedge is extremely comfortable and I don't slide at all! I don't even have the sensation of being tilted. I use my regular pillow and it works great. I highly recommend this pillow. It's a lot of money, but worth it. I have suffered from terrible acid reflux for years and tried every medication and lifestyle change. I had given up on being able to sleep elevated until I found this wedge.

Compared to various other methods I've tried for sleeping with my head elevated to alleviate GERD symptoms, this side sleeper has been the most effective. For the record, I do not sleep on my side, I sleep on my stomach and this is still very comfortable. PROS: You don't slide off. It's longer than any other bed wedge I've tried therefore it supports your back down to your hips instead of creating an unhealthy bend at your waist. CONS: It needs a standard cover to feel cool like a standard pillow case instead of that faux sheepskin material. Like most new pillows, especially the tempur-pedic variety, it smells noxious the first few days. TIPS: For even more elevation for acid reflux, I stack 3 normal pillows up near the headboard then I place this side-sleeper just south of the pillows. This puts my head slightly higher than the wedge (and on a normal pillow case) and then my shoulders down to hips are supported by the wedge. Taller people might especially appreciate this tip even if not seeking the extra elevation because it has the effect of elongating the wedge. Also, unless the store provides a normal cover real soon I've gotta have a seamstress make one for me.
