Chair was perfect, until it broke and Human Touch refused to fix it Review by Unhappy customer
-
My 70+ year old mom was very happy with her chair, and it helped her recover from a herniated disk in her back several years ago. That's why we bought the chair. She weighs all of 100 pounds and used the chair daily and properly for a couple years. Suddenly, the foot/leg support part of the chair would not retract and 'fold up' correctly. A weld broke on a metal joint in the mechanical controls for the foot/leg rest part of the chair. This happened shortly after the standard warranty expired. The manufacturer refused to fix the chair - even for money. They were aware of the problem (some sort of defect in design/manufacturing), but were not willing to fix the chair (even when we offered to pay full price for a repair) or replace the chair. They offered her a $500 discount to purchase a new chair! It was unbelievable! A couple years after buying the chair, the best they could offer was a 25% discount on replacing a $2,000+ chair!
This was not a Relax the Back issue, it was not their problem to fix. Human Touch would not stand behind their product, or make right a situation that was clearly their responsibility.
My mom has lived with the chair in it's broken state (foot support will not fully retract, making the chair difficult and dangerous to get in and out of). We are about to replace it for her (since she recently had back surgery and can't use the dangerous Human Touch chair) and purchase a different brand zero gravity recliner - hoping that we have better luck with a different manufacturer.
If you buy this chair, buy the extended warranty. This wasn't available when we bought the chair... I'm guessing it's been added as an option because we are not the only customers who've had unpleasant experiences with malfunctions that Human Touch would not fix.

Really is "The Perfect Chair"! Review by Jenn

I have a couple chronic pain conditions, and after having this chair for a couple months now I really can say it's worth every penny. My body is so much more comfortable having a recliner that is fully supportive, and I've actually noticed a decrease in pain particularly in my low back and hips since it doesn't put any pressure there. I can even sleep in this if I want to, and I can't say that for any other chair or sofa I own! I would very highly recommend this to anyone.
