Multiple SclerosisMultiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease that affects the central nervous system. Essentially, it is a disease in which the body attacks its own tissues, leaving "plaque" or lesions on its nerve fibers. Although rarely fatal (fewer than 1% of MS sufferers will die directly because of it) there is no universally effective treatment and no known cure.
People with MS often suffer from a range of symptoms, including numbness, tingling, loss of balance, cramps, spasticity, muscle weakness and a host of other painful symptoms.
