FibromyalgiaFibromyalgia is a painful form of soft tissue or muscular rheumatism. It affects the ligaments and tendons, often developing without a well-defined precursor. It also can result from rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus, or ankylosing spondylitis.
Most fibromyalgia sufferers experience pain in the joints and muscles, but also experience overall achy or painful sensations throughout the entire body. Well-defined tender points can also result, as illustrated by the graphic to the right.
